Rate Changes on Eviction Filings!

Hope everyone has remained productive this week!

Just wanted to update everyone on some recent changes that I have been updated on. About a month ago most counties raised their eviction filing costs....But they didn't just raise them, they DRASTICALLY raised them...

To give you an example, just a week ago I called Polk County to inquire about their new fees.

What they used to be: $80 for filing & $20 for the sheriffs office posting the summons.

What they are NOW: a whopping $300 for filing & thankfully still $20 for the sheriff.

These fees are not including a writ of possession when the time comes to actually evict the tenant, which usually runs about $70.

Moral of the story? Build a good, solid relationship with your tenants from the beginning and really screen your prospective tenants. A small mistake could really cost you this time!

Wishing you much success with tenants!
